It is common for low carb dieters to experience changes in their bowel movements, especially during the first couple of weeks. Although most people do not notice any changes in their bowel movements on keto (a low-carb diet), constipation is a frequent problem although some people suffer from diarrhea instead. For some, the low-carb ketogenic diet is a quick way to shed excess weight.

Although losing weight while eating tons of cheese, bacon, and fat may sound great, you’ll ultimately pay the price.Electrolytes are important — Along with dehydration, a very low-carb diet can change the way your body handles electrolytes, resulting in deficiencies and imbalances. Electrolytes (specifically sodium, potassium, and magnesium) help with muscle contraction, including those that help move food through your gut.Changes in bowel habits are treated based on the underlying cause your doctor identifies.

If bleeding is a concern, a gastrointestinal specialist may repair the.Doctors say that eating up to five servings of low-carb vegetables daily foods such as broccoli, cauliflower, and lettuce can keep your bowels healthy without interfering with weight loss. If.

Bowel habits vary from person to person. Sudden changes are often harmless, but they can indicate an underlying health condition, such as irritable bowel syndrome or inflammatory bowel.Change in bowel habits, Constipation, Decreased sweating and Fatigue. 1 These unwanted consequences of fasting can be due to.Many popular diet regimens – like gluten-free, paleo and low-carb plans – significantly cut grains, and some involve a reduction in root vegetable and fruit intake as well.Eggs, whole roasted chicken with the skin, beef and the like would be better sources of protein (and fat) than lean meats you have to add fat to. That and A LOT of low sugar/starch vegetables instead of a little 20 net carbs in vegetables is not small amount would be the changes I would try.

Add bitter foods to your diet to improve digestion. Bitter herbs like arugula (rucula), dandelion greens, kale, mustard greens, and watercress are easy salad greens to find. Dandelion coffee or tea is also supposed to help indirectly with the digestion of fats.

The safest recourse is to take the following supplement.INTRODUCTION. Overweight and obesity are global health concerns.1 Various effective weight-loss diets have been developed, including the Atkins diet.2–5 The Institute of Medicine’s Acceptable Macro-nutrient Distribution Ranges of carbohydrate, protein, and fat for energy are 45% to 65%, 20% to 35%, and 10% to 35%, respectively.3 The Atkins diet is known as an extreme low-carbohydrate.Starting a new diet to lose weight, manage your blood sugar levels or reduce your risk of chronic disease might change your bowel patterns, especially in the first phases.

If you’re on a diet that restricts certain food groups or requires that you increase your intake of other foods, your body might respond by producing hard, infrequent stools.A diet high in fiber and fluids can help relieve constipation. Insoluble fiber such as found on the skin of fruits and vegetables, is the kind of fiber you want to relieve constipation and have a normal bowel. On a low-carb diet, especially if you reduce or completely give up processed foods, the sodium balance in your body will change.

The changed fluid balance can lead to constipation. Even if you don’t want to eat a lot of salt, you still need to include sufficient amounts in your diet. A pinch of salt when cooking or to taste is considered healthy.

  • I didn’t expect to be so into this conversation! What a fascinating and a complete overview of our current society through the lens of diet!

  • Why aren’t other nutritional doctors like, Barnard, macdougall, Essylton, Williams etc…more concerned about carbohydrates? They seem much more focused on low fat.

  • After going through these many diet’s, finally I found a life long Solution on this channel https://youtu.be/OCh3gKQuKOU

  • Listen to the facts instead talking about theories, before you make someone sick: https://nutritionfacts.org/video/keto-diets-muscle-growth-and-bone-density/

  • I’ve been on the ketogenic systems for about five weeks now. And to save my own life I cannot stop shiting liquid hell. Can anyone please please tell me why.

  • I ve noticed that hidrolized collagen cause me constipation. What is the best way to consume it? Thanks

  • Wow what a terrible video from health professionals. What next, laughing about breast cancer because they’re referring to boobs? I usually wouldn’t wish IBS on anyone but I feel I would make an exception here.

  • Is there a minimum length of time that is safe/ok to NOT poop? It’s been 4 days now…it just seems too long! I don’t feel bloated at all and feel fine..but I was used to daily excrement! I will for sure do the salt, avocado, and other ideas here…

  • I’m on week 3 of keto and I haven’t felt worse. I’m underweight and constantly fatigued. This shit sucks

  • Take it from a long time sufferer, the most important thing you can do to reduce the pain associated with IBS-C is to keep the bowel hydrated.
When the bowel draws water out of your stools it makes the stools harder and there are two places in the bowel where hard stools have difficulty navigating. One is the bottom of the descending colon on the left side about level with the appendix and the other is where the sigmoid meets the rectum.
Anyone who has had IBS attacks knows that when the first bowel movement finally happens it’s very often like concrete and softens more with each movement.
The thing that caused it is the fact that you allowed yourself to get dehydrated and it’s the reason why a disproportionate number of these attacks happen on weekends when you are more active and more likely to dehydrate.
Drink a lot of water and avoid excessive amounts of fibre in the diet.

  • It works!!! I made a stew with chicken broth and spinach-ELECTROLYTES and I had a half of avocado-POTASSIUM and than I had little bit of broccoli and mixed greens-FIBER. And some CHIA SEED to get it all going.

    No dairy, no meat.
Thank you for all your knowledge!! ♥️

  • This was helpful (and very timely). I’m new to a Lo-Carb diet and not on a Keto diet yet but I can see where I might have gone down the wrong route on overloading on meat/protein vs. more fiber.

  • Keto diet is my favourite diet and super easy to stick to. For anyone looking for recipe ideas or what you can and can’t eat i have found a website that helps you out with that based on your needs add me on snapchat Karensilveste20 and i’m happy to help.

  • Even if calories were the most important thing, keto is still the way. Keto suppresses your appetite to the point where you never need to count calories.

  • 25:00 “There’s a point at which it doesn’t serve me to eat anymore”. I’ve repeatedly and consistently exceeded that point for years. I either order a pizza and eat the whole damn thing because it’s so much better fresh and hot than reheated or I make meals for myself that are a portion size so big that I could literally divide it in half and have 2 meals that will fill me up….but I eat it all anyway, because that’s the meal I made for myself…and it really tastes good.
I’m doing a 3 day on, 2 day off fasting protocol with a keto diet. There is no way in hell I could plan, shop for and prepare 21 keto meals a week. That would be like taking a second full-time job. But I can plan, shop for and prepare 5 or 6 clean keto meals a week, especially if I have 3 days to do the planning and shopping. My current favorite is a greek salad (spinach, tomatoes, onion, red bell pepper, zucchini, avocado, olives and feta chz) with avocado oil dressing and about a 4 ounce portion of baked salmon. A 1lb salmon fillet will make 4 meal portions and with about 2 cups worth of salad, it fills me up to a comfortable level. On my 2 eating days, I have 4 of these and if I want a breakfast, I make bacon or sausage (quality sausage, no fillers) and eggs, with tomato and/or avacado slices. I drink an electrolyte powder serving in 12oz of water each fasting day with a multivitamin.
I have such a fat loss boner right now, I almost regret having to break my fasts.

  • why would you have toilet paper as the picture for constipation? if your constipated the shit is usually totally solid and you barely need to wipe.

  • Great, but evidence exists that the minerals such as sodium, potassium and magnesium are poorly absorbed in the absence of sucrose. That is why many oral rehydration solutions contain it.
Just about any good source of soluble fiber (applesauce, psyllium husk, oatmeal, maca powder) contains carbs.
Prior to a colonoscopy, I was given a prescription for polyethylene glycol 3350 NF. Instead of cleaning out my intestines, it locked them up like concrete. I’m wondering if anyone else has used this product and what their results were. It is water soluble and I believe more of a hydrating lubricant type of laxative. I do not believe the body could use it as an energy source carbohydrate or metabolize it.

  • I love Dr. Lustig! So knowledgeable! He’s such a G! I first found him 4 yrs ago right before I went vegan (still am vegan), but my journey started with me literally on my couch, eating Haagen Dazs rocky road, coming to the end of the container, and then me reflecting on how I don’t even know how I got to the end of that container, AND I still could eat even more. I knew something just wasn’t normal about that. And so I began thoroughly looking at sugar and processed food literature.

  • Fiber both soluble and insoluble is actually the cause for digestive issues even in small quantity in a ketogenic diet. Our colon can no longer process fiber as well as herbivores. The small amount of ketones we get from short chain triglycerides via microbiome does not outweigh the benefits. There are also anti-nutrients, lechtins, oxalates, etc that some are more sensitive to than others. There is also FODMAPS that we need to be aware of. Try ZCHF keto (carnivore) for a few weeks and you would be surprised that any digestive issues and any other complications that LCHF keto can’t address may just get resolved. There may be a 1-week microbiome adjustment period but will be smooth sailing after. Dr Paul Mason and Dr Paul Saladino go into the scientific data analysis as fiber not being an essential just like how carbohydrate is a non-essential for humans.

  • Makes sense but this man is not fit. His message would have more weight if he was lean and fit… but we are all human

  • I having ibs and gastritis since june!!! So i tired it. whenever occured i will start panic and depression!! I often cried! I cannot take it anymore

but my doctor said me don’t worry because i having anxiety and depression before T-T Does anyone else here feel like me.

  • I’m on the keto diet and when I was eating carbs I was always hungry. So it wasn’t a case of me choosing when I wanted to eat like a parent looks after a child but my body being so hangry and aggressive that I was a slave to food and I was forced and controlled by my body. When you do Keto your cravings go completely and you have the power.

  • Cheers for the Video! Apologies for chiming in, I would love your initial thoughts. Have you heard the talk about Weyannah Reyharlotte Method (do a google search)? It is a great exclusive guide for getting rid of IBS and irritable colon Immediately minus the hard work. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my friend Sam after a lifetime of fighting got cool results with it.

  • one month ago i buy 500gr of Nutella and the next day was gone, but now im in Keto everything is change for ex. today i wake up in 7am and made 50km ciclying in fasting mode and my energy level after 50km it was stil in 80% and no hanger what so ever. Keto change my life forever…

  • Great video. Your speed is high.very difficult to understand for the PPL who doesn’t have full commond on English language

  • Primal saved me when I was coming out of veganism. Completely changed my life. Mark was one of the first I found (him, fat burning man and diet doctor were my big start). This stuff is for real. Family is going back onto keto, we have been unhealthy for too long. After years fell off the bandwagon… I want my life back.

  • Fresh fruit is great! And sometimes, only sometimes, such as in autumn and winter, don’t go overboard, even some dried fruts, such as dried apricots, dried apples with skin, dried mangos,..

  • The key point that people cannot understand about keto is the feeling of freedom. I am not a slave to my hunger and my sweet cravings anymore, i have energy, i dont feel depressed and despite having a bad day at work i dont feel the need of binging on sweets to calm my anxiety because my body is 100% satisfied. That is the number one reason why keto and carnivre is so damn powerful. If i cheat sith carbs or sweets (birthda, xmas) damn i am back to being a skave, mood swings, feeling lethargic and not wanting to workout, why people would want to go back to that awful place? Now i simply ignore the noise, eat whenever i want at home and meet others for coffee or a walk instead of a meal and i never explain my diet lifestyle to others, i just do my own thing ‍♀️

  • You can lose weight on this diet but its dangerous and unhealthy. It increases mortality by 22%. The best diet is a starch based vegan diet.

  • Smh…. I know avacado provides so much benefits… Too bad I’m allergic. Anybody knows any few great substitues?

  • IBS sucks. I can’t eat alot of foods without feeling immediately sick afterwards and then followed by constipation. Its casued me to have bad skin due to improperly absorbing nutrients.

  • To combat this i mix one tablespoon of chia seeds and one tablespoon of psyllium husk into a glass of water every morning. works a treat

  • I’m not stupid it I go rent when I a lot of these are a result of trauma and it’s truly in our heads it’s really sad

  • I have Opening statement for the “Sugar Debate”. “You’re right Dr. N.B.: “Sugars do not cause Diabetes IT’S what the Body Marvelous has to do with them that leads to Diabetes, and a host of other Metabolic failures. Our Body Marvelous will die trying to survive.

  • This is just superb, been searching for “how to relieve constipation” for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across Qaneah Neynna Takeover (just google it )? Ive heard some decent things about it and my colleague got excellent results with it.

  • After ballooning up to 230 lbs for a couple decades with metabolic syndrome and clogging my heart arteries with carbs and sugar, I had a quadruple bypass 4 months ago. Now with a low carb diet and fasting from 9:00 pm until 12:00 noon and sometimes 3:00 I’m down to 188lbs. If I was aware of this a year ago I may have been able to forgo that operation. I’m hearing of people reversing plaque build up with Keto plus D3 and K2. But supplements will NOT work without stopping the carbs. People criticize Bloomberg for try to outlaw sugar drinks, but you can see where he’s coming from. Sugar kills.

  • would be cool if everyone ate healthy and we didnt have to waste time and money on those who KNOW they should not be eating the way they do.

  • My ibs was non-existent when I stopped eating meat. After 3 years I started to eat meat again and I’ve been bloated and in extreme pain all over again. I think Meat, dairy and sugar flare ibs for sure.

  • I really like Robert Lustig, because he is not polarized. Some low carb doctors are too polarized against carbs and say low carb is one size fits all.

  • Happy Fathers Day Greetings from Malaysia
We are indeed blessed to have Dr Lustig and listen to his teachings

  • This is a delightful podcast! Dr. Lustig is (and has been) one of my favorite voices on this topic. Thank you!

  • In other words they do not know what causes it, and they have no definitive way to treat it. It is all trial and error, a shot in the dark with no real cure.

  • I feel pain and discomfort everyday, more severe in the morning and can feel even worse after a movement. Nausea, headaches, I am 6ft and stuggle to stay above 160 pounds. I have sensitivity to things that I previously could enjoy. Anxiety amd depression through the roof. This “syndrome” has cost me jobs, and lovers. Hope people take this more seriously.

  • I’m on keto, just went 5 days without a visit to bathroom for number 2 ….until today I can’t let that happen again!! Apple cider vinegar helped along with this video. Thanks

  • I’ve been doing keto, I’ve noticed so many more changes than just my weight!

  • Living in a country like philippines with this kind of condition would be a great dissapointment and embarassment. This serves a challenge for me as a student. At some point of time this will occur suddenly at any place (it happen most often in my school) one thing I’ve learned from it is that, you have to be honest on people you are going to encounter. Let them know about this kind of condition and how serious it is. By now, everytime it attacks I don’t feel ashamed or embarassed anymore since they understand me and what’s important for me is that i need the relief which is provided after you make the thing. Although the pain can really alter me the fact that it’s unpredictable at any time, but what is more important is we are alive and we have the chance to eat healthy foods which is kind of effective to me. It lessen the frequency of my symptomps although it’s not entirely gone. I really hope that someday, there would be a proper treatment for this which can treat this condition forever. ❣️

  • I love the Keto way of eating. I lost 22 lbs. in 3 weeks, and have just 10 more lbs to go. From 216 to 184, and I feel great! I’m back in the weight rooms lifting heavy, riding my bicycle every day, and life is good.

  • Lot of advocacy of using public health to justify more state control in his presentation. Can’t say I agree. More laws, more control, more loss of liberty. While he is probably right about the problem it should still be up to the individual to decide what he or she eats.

  • America may be the most orthodox country in the western world. It has to be….we kill new ideas. We are into preserving fossil fuels, cheetos, non renewable energy sources, surgery instead of prevention, surgery instead of nutrition, extract teeth instead of expanding the arch, embracing carbs and demonizing fats, etc……

  • I have ibs since I was 15 why tf see they laughing do you know how embarrassing it is not being able to finish your meal because you have to go to the bathroom because you’re having a flareup if you knew how bad the pain was you wouldn’t make fun of it

  • So depressing…

Kid without the helmet call the cops.

Condoms in the bathroom as a big cultural shift.
And someone drinking coke is depriving others of money for their health care.

So much about responsibility, freedom, the free will, responsibility… What was great about America, was its rejection of socialism thinking. Not anymore… WE know better what is good for you.

We, keto community were, and probably still are, a minority. But we also have our own race of “we know better what ather should do”.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions… so true, always true. And what is really sad I don’t see here any comment how wrong dr Lustig as a politician is.

  • Since i started the keto diet i eat almost every day an avocado, no wonder i never had any problems with my digestion

  • Thank you so very much for the pointers regarding this problem. It’s something I suffer from a great deal and now I have a better understanding as to how to combat it. A gallon of water a day? Too much for me but I’ll certainly make sure my litres are Himalayan ready. Thanks

  • We try to stay one meal a day and Keto. How to incorporate psillium hascks and Inuline? If I drink them before meal my stomach acids will be down. Have someone any idea?

  • This one is a really great episode. I´ve been doing keto for almost a year now and i feel totally fine.
The only thing i find a bit funny is when Mark said “you have to recover” while having watched both episodes where Tom interviewed David Goggins.
I thought to myself “maybe you should talk to Goggins about resting and recovering” XD

  • I also read online that zinc supplements are helping children’s diareah. Maybe it helps adult diareah also, I read another article that had doctor reports that zinc should help both child and adult diareah.

Also, people on utube are writing that magnesium supplements is the cure for their IBSD.

  • Keto is not healthy. It is okay to eat carbohydrates as long as they are unrefined. Studies show that cultures that eat beans and whole grains along with healthy fats live the longest. Ie the Mediterranean Diet.

  • I was thinking the exact same thing, why are the host joking about this? Nothing about this is funny. It’s painful, it sucks the energy out of you and causes one to miss work and enjoy daily life.

  • love love your videos can i ask does carnivore and keto diets put your body in a stress state you no flight or fight cortisol and so on please reply thanks

  • How is this a good diet? If this is how we were meant to eat why are there so many problems that come with it?

  • Been doing keto since may 2019. Iv lost 100 pounds but now have hemorrhoids. I think I’m done with keto!

  • I thought Mayo Clinic was a professional medical information and helper of viruses and diseases not a podcast show

  • 21:00 Latinos? Are we targeting aborigines for extinction? 23:00 They’re the ones? He’s starting to sound like Trump. 25:00 Make it hurt who? You racist b######. Sorry but…

To use his word, disingenuous. Cigarettes now contain cannabis instead of tobacco. That is not an improvement. The subsidies aren’t on the table are they. What problem? This is a plan. The media makes public opinion. We have very little choice in the matter. Educating the public? Give me a break.

I really enjoyed the first half a dozen or so podcast that I clicked on. Thank you for having Bob on your podcast but I don’t envy your job. Trying to watch all of your podcasts is turning out to be…

  • Please stop linking to Amazon. They treat their employees like they’re disposable and it’s time to stop supporting them.

  • Seat belts do save lives but it is very much debated whether bicycle helmets save lives. For example when a helmet law was introduced to Australia, brain injuries stayed the same but the number of people cycling halved.

Thank you both for an otherwise fantastic podcast.

  • I have just came back from visit at my local doctor and he said stress can contribute to symptopms being more noticable.
It seems that this is another fast and modern lifestyle illness.
I think what you eat it can also add up to this.Eat less food with lactoze and gluten. Also coffee makes guts enviornment more acidic.
I am slowly changing my eating habits and hopefully will improve.
I have also been told that I did not drink enough water daily. That means your digestive system works harder.

  • A lot of people think they have Ibs but it may be an infection and some infections are actually through the brain btw if u don’t want ur body like to hurt eat rice has no effects drink water slowly and avoid any diary products but tbh rice is probably the best it gives u no symptoms and if it hurts make ur body numb by sitting in a place for a long time and I promise u it will go away unless it’s really bad

  • WHAT IS CHRONIC CARDIO.!

CARDIO IS BRILLIANT FOR MY MENTAL HEALTH. SO I DONT WANT TO GIVE IT UP. A GOOD 5-10K PER DAY…. 30-60 MINUTES OF RUNNING IN THE MORNING….. SEEMS TO HUGELY BENEFIT MY MENTAL HEALTH.

HOWEVER I KNOW CHRONIC CARDIO IS UNHEALTHY.

SO IS THIS CLASSED AS CHRONIC CARDIO?

AS A VAGUE BALL PARK FIGURE…. HOW FAR IS CONSIDERED CHRONIC AND HOW FAR IS ACCEPTABLE?

  • My poor 27-year-old son with IBS has tried so many things, but the only thing that is showing promise is a carnivore diet. He discovered this accidentally by himself, by trial and error, and then found a lot of info on the internet, so he decided to try it for 30 days. He’s on day six now and it’s looking promising. First effect was a normal stool the second day, then his pain reduced, and his face lost its look of rosacea. I feel for all of you who are suffering with this.

  • The keto diet completely took away my sore muscles and terrible joint pain and stiffness! Im flexible again and the weight just fell off!

  • Why are some of you bashing DR Lustig? He’s helped so many kids and adults! I’ve heard him say that he doesn’t do Low Carb &/or Keto, he preaches what he teaches; he tells us to just EAT REAL FOOD! He tells us to stay away from processed food…NO JUNK! Read his books, he explains it all there. You want a healthy kid? Well kids don’t work, don’t have money; so it’s up to you (parents) to step up to the plate and start feeding your kids right…NO JUNK! Sounds too easy to be true but it is that easy, I & my husband can attest to that, in less than two years we both lost over 70# each and have lessened much of our RX medications by just EATING REAL FOOD! So just because he looks fat to you, you’re going to dismiss all the good he’s done? Shame on you! And, furthermore, he’s not fat, he looks healthy; he’s comfortable with himself! Kudos Dr Lustig and thank you for all you do!

  • Thanks to the Keto diet I lost like a lot of weight. I lost 10 pounds, for some people that doesn’t seem a lot, but for me was a huge achievement because that was something that I started doing just for curiosity. And later became part of my lifestyle.

  • It never surprises me anymore at how upside down the medical and health community can be with regard to health standards. There are so many health issues that the medical and “health” industry get totally wrong. Maybe they don’t care about advice that they can’t monetize. Still, very few are diagnosing sleep apnea. Still, very few are prescribing diets like this for health and longevity. STill, we allow sodas and chicken mcNuggets to be the staple of school lunches. Still, we don’t recognize that traditional orthodontics pulls faces back and compromises airway. Still, we hand out meds to kids for ADD and ADHD instead of looking at the underlying causatives (which for many are sleep disordered breathing, google it). Still, we don’t show nearly enough respect for oxygen as the main nutrient that feeds the brain and body and therefore we don’t notice when someone has a greatly reduced level of saturated oxygen in their bodies. How are we wrong so often? When people try and climb Mt. Everest without oxygen they lose their cognitive skills and judgment. They lose their coordination and their energy levels go way down. We give them oxygen and they bounce back instantly. Why then are we not addressing all of the people who are mouth breathers and addressing mouth breathing.Dr. Bob Perkins

  • If the hosts knew the pain IBS can cause and how it alters ones daily life, they wouldn’t be laughing…

  • Guys if u want to avoid triggers avoid smoking being nervous eating dairy and drinking fizzy drinks eat rice drink cold water slowly and exercise i promise u if u exercise their are no symptoms also if u are out don’t eat if it means using the toilet just drink water and when u get home eat and don’t think about it and I don’t know why but when u sit still u don’t feel any of the symptoms because ur body is numb so I recommend that and if u eat outside eat rice best thing for people with ibs simple and no side effects

  • Tom, you are the best interviewer. You let the guest talk. That’s what interviews are for. Thank you for being respectful and giving guests a platform to speak.

  • People in the comments are overreacting. Hosts are just doing their job and trying to keep the subject light for the general audience.

  • I’m severely depressed and have severe anxiety I feel embarrassed and debilitating on a daily basis. I cant eat anything. I feel the bathroom is the most visited room in my home. I almost feel like I do the walk of shame every time I walk out of bathroom. I’m so sad. Almost but not suicidal. I just feel so much sadness. I cant go on like this!!

  • I love how the hosts laugh, like you wouldn’t be laughing if you were trying not to crap yourself every time you had a flare up in public. Also if you haven’t tried calcium try it! I had ibs BAD and tried the meds nothing worked. Calcium literally regulates my bowels and helps have normal bowel movements! So all my fellow sufferers try it! Calcium tablets from the store, in the vitamin section!

  • There are so many ppl that say they’ve tried Keto, but have never actually shifted into Ketosis. They give up and never experience the amazing feelings and lifestyle changes and lower food expenses!!!

  • Great Great Information Thank you Mark…You explain Keto and how the body works so well….The best I have heard.

  • Idk if I have this but yesterday I had terrible abdominal pain that lasted for about 12 hours. I stayed up until 5 trying to go to sleep but I never could because of how much pain I was in. Ive been having abdominal pain here and there but nothing as bad as the one I just had. I can barely walk it still hurts just from yesterday. I have also been having constipation diarrhea and nausea

  • Most important action evoked by Dr. Lustig, and I up the ante: disassemble the entire food/agriculture/medicine/pharmaceutical complex. We as consumers can drive it.

  • Living with IBD my whole life I’m only 22. I’m in extremely amounts of pain
They talk about this so lightly.
IBD can make me depressed because there is no fix. I don’t know how many doctors I have to see to get some relief..

  • Excellent talk. Thanks, both of you. Dr. Lustig’s understanding of the human body never ceases to astound.

  • Pretty sure aspartame is just as bad if not worse than fructose. Not liver damage but brain damage due to dopamine overstimulation.

  • I thought Primal was just another supplament seller, this is awsome. Tom you shouldnt look so fed up and mouth down when listening

  • Is this guy a doctor? He should clarify his credentials since he is talk with authority. I’d want to listen to him more if he qualified what makes him an expert in this field.

  • How can he make such a general statement about Latinos? We are of European, Chinese, African Indian, etc. Etc. Etc descent. Please explain

  • What did Neil Barnard say? Sorry, I don’t know the guy and would be grateful if someone could link a video or something.

  • The editor really needs to stop cutting to toms face during interviews when he isn’t saying anything/ giving no response. They’re just cutting for the sake of cutting and for no real reason. They should stay tight on the subject until Tom starts reacting THEN cut to a wide of both subjects THEN cut to Tom. The way it is now is awful.

  • I’ve been suffering from bloating and change in bowel movements, doctors recommended I do a colonoscopy which will cost me around USD 900. Currently I’m not working and I come from a humble family which really was relying on me. Upto now I’m still suffering. Anyone who can help me raise this money would be a huge blessing. I’m really worried as I was told there’s also a risk of developing colon cancer.

  • Mayo Clinic is a joke. I don’t have IBS myself, but I do suffer from a similar condition that’s unknown. The personnel are cruel. They tried to put me in their psychiatric ward in 2008. These laughing doctors are just showing their true colours.

  • I’m gasy and it’s painful and I have constipation and diarrhea and sometimes nausea and it’s painful when I try and go is that’s ibs

  • No medicine can help you with IBS You have to change your diet. Do a 21 days fast and slowly introduce food back in the diet one by one, eliminate the ones that irritate you. Don’t over eat. Why are you telling people about over the counter meds. That’s bad.

  • Thanks for this content. I would like to share this too. I hope it will work on you. Just click on the link. https://8c387818rmb5ez8mqd7k1m3va4.hop.clickbank.net/

  • Keto is an unnatural and dangerous thus stupid diet. Just look up Glycogen storage disease type 0 or cardiac lipotoxicity. You keto charlatans should be locked up for destroying people’s health.

  • All of this makes me question Keto. Maybe just a low carb diet ‍♂️. More veggies, some healthy facts, some complex carbs, and some protein. Just don’t eat trash. Don’t over eat. Plus Intermittent Fasting.

  • Make yourself a keto cocoa. Mix 25g of unsweetened cocoa powder with boiling water and whatever you want and drink it. You can go to the toilet after.

  • IBS is no joke… I’ve been suffering for 3 years now, low to severe, It affects the body and life massively. I hope no one gets this problem.

  • Anxiety manifests itself in the gut and in my case causes IBS and back pain but never at the same time. It’s a self defense mechanism the mind and body uses to take one out of harms way. Look up Dr John Sarno and TMS. Most docs don’t have a clue about the mental side of IBS so most focus on diet, etc. I’ve tried everything over the years and found my relief comes from a very strict meditation regime, deep breathing, muscle relaxation and CBD oil.

  • God wants to heal your life and your struggles!
Give to CBN’s 700 Club cuz God will bless you so much for it. The more I give, the more healing and blessings I experience in my life! Testimonials you can read on the website explain the profound miracles people started experiencing when they started giving monthly gifts to help this ministry’s financial needs. I hope you give to this ministry your attention, you can help them so much! God bless!!

  • Hi! In regards to the minerals and your advice of adding salt to water, ehh does the Na have to come in this form? Could I just add more salt to my foods?

  • Why would Tracy McRae be offended by the statement that IBS may be more common in women? ( 18:52).
Would she be offended too that breast cancer is more prevalent in women?

Another example of feminist over-reaction to a simple, innocent statement from a male who is just stating the truth.

  • Fascinating. I wish parents of young children could watch  this as part of child development classes.

  • Wow laughing about a condition that causes one pain and embarrassment and makes them have a low self esteem what is wrong with these people

  • Great stuff! Side note* if you close your eyes and listen, this guy sounds kind of like Billy Crystal.

  • The majority of obese people don’t have diabetes. It’s a risk factor and NOT a cause. Not all Type II diabetics are fat. It’s far more complicated than that.

  • I have dry stool. You solution is not clear. The muscles are good. Just need softer stool. Fiber? Minerals?

  • Find out if Jesus is real, and after you discover who he is, follow Him with all your heart! Jesus came that we might have life and have it more abundantly!

  • last night was the first night in weeks that i was able to sleep without any alcohol in my system. at the start of second week no sugar no grain no carbs. only meat eggs and veggies water and black coffee. i feel phenomenal. i don’t think ill ever stop.

  • My friend says that “it hurts so much” when I enter the ‘back door’ with my powerhouse drill. But I’m not the one who talks about a bowel movement by saying “I just dropped a few brown logs”. That’s not a happy time, particularly when I find them on the bathroom floor.

  • You know Tom you do a good interview until you start dropping “F” bombs where they give you the appearance of being badly educated with a small vocabulary. I sure your intelligent guests cringe every time you drop one and is one reason i decided to stop watching J. Rogan as I have worked hard all my life to improve my vocabulary! Listen to your guests and you will hear no “F” bombs coming from them! Thanks

  • Hey Thomas, I think I may be dehydrated because I wake up with muscle cramps in my legs. There is mucus in my stool, I think, it looks like phlegm (whitish and soft). I have begun taking minerals and psyllium husk pills recently, so I will see if this helps. The mucus, I think, in my stool kind of freaks me out. Thanks.

  • that first ten seconds proves you’re a robot no wonder you can cite studies like the months of the year

  • Thank you for taking on this taboo subject. I want to share with you and your other subscribers what has helped me. It is in line with what you are saying in your video. I have added magnesium, digestive enzymes, L-Carnitine and buffered Vitamin C to my daily vitamins. This has been extremely helpful with regularity and comfort. I also would like your opinion on whether or not to consider adding potato starch to your diet? I have read that this can be helpful in promoting healthy gut bacteria.

  • Idk if i have ibs but it first start with a diarrhea(I’m allergic to spicy food) then my stomach start hurting but there is no more diarhea and when i’m anxious the pain get worst.it been a week and my pain still here

  • I remember Mark Sisson from P90X program when he made the meal plan for that! I knew I have heard about him before! Good to know he approves keto!

  • I’m loving keto. There are so many recipes for flourless chocolate cakes, zero carb ice cream and breads! I’m not missing out on anything. In fact, on keto, you get to eat everything and still lose weight.

  • Ibs ain’t really funny… it kinda feels like getting stabbed in the stomach that’s how much pain it causes

  • KETO, INTERMITTENT FASTING AND FASTING helped me lose 50 pounds. Here’s exactly what I did:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NnmXsGvAZ7o&feature=youtu.be

  • If I wasn’t having a flare up right now, I might find it more instructive. I just give thanks that it isn’t Crohns or colitis.

  • Methadone. <<<Idc what anybody says it works for me and it’s free where I live and I got my life back no more worrying about excruciating pain, cramps, diarrhea, using an entire roll of toilet paper, ect ect.

  • Flax seed or something on everything for fiber
    Avocados
    Probiotics
    Prebiotics
    Asparagus
    Pink salt
    Potassium
    Magnesium

  • I won’t pass a stool for about 4 days sometimes and I get so bloated and stomach is rock hard I wake up like that and won’t eat for days.

  • I find it so uncomfortable how the hosts are finding this so funny and they’re not trying to hide their laughter. Meanwhile this gi is so professional and formal and they’re just cracking up. The children should be removed and we should just see the gi talking. They’re so irritating and I’m just trying to learn

  • It was mentioned, but presenters failed to discuss prescribed medications. It also failed to discuss how patients often get caught in chronic OTC medications, which can exacerbate IBS symptoms.

  • Funny that they didn’t bring GMOs, pesticides and over processed food when in fact that is the main cause of this pandemic.

  • man im 13 and on keto for 16 days and i ate kfc once and I was thinking thats why Im constipated but idrk

  • I was constipated and so desperate after a month of this crap. At 3am I went to the store, bought prune juice, prunes, coconut water, sports drinks (for more electrolytes, avocados (for potassium) and kiwis and ate and drank a bit of everything. Within an hour I pooped after 5 days of no brown snakes

  • Constipation and bloating have been big problems for me since starting keto. I need to monitor the hydration, potassium and magnesium more closely, but I’m hoping adding the Muniq shakes to my diet will be a problem fixer. The ACV and psyllium husk fiber wasn’t helping and my stomach would get so big after a few days so I’ve been using a dulcolax pill every 3 days.

  • 20 minutes hearing everything I learned through a google search. This is BS… I want a CURE!! People DO cure IBS!!!!!

  • Prunes is a quick fix that works but dry fruits arent keto and the problem long term isn’t addressed but it beats stomach cramps.

  • Love this video! Your breakdowns of bodily functions are both interesting and informative. This content is spot on!

  • Mom suffers from IBS and feels really bad, especially after bowel movement. ( Bloating, gas, diarrhea every time) Do you guys feel the same and what do you do to feel better?

  • Hahaha avocado has few carbs, dude go and check all Google pages about avocado…1 avocado can kick u out of keto…lost intrest what you say in your videos…how or where you bought those 2 mln subscribes???,perhaps Turkey

  • So, I think ketogenic diet is a winter diet. Harsh winter, the winter where you don’t really sweat. People who live in a warm to hot climates shouldnt really do keto because they will keep loosing a lot of minerals with sweat without replenishing them naturally.

  • I wonder if having too much sugar lowers our cognitive functions? Does it make us dumb? I feel a lot slower in my thinking after I’ve had sugar. I don’t know whether it’s causation or correlation.

  • tb é problem is that the avocados aren’t always ripe when being sold it’s like bananas they take awhile and I live far from the town I have to find another method maybe a chia seeds bowl

  • I’ve heard that keto dieting can cause insulin resistance and that if your in ketosis you are insulin resistant until you come out of it any truth to this? love your videos by the way:)

  • For shame! Just because people eventually adjust to infringements of their freedom doesn’t make them any less of an obscenity. It’s like the frog in the water that is heating up to boiling-you don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone. Just about everything you do affects someone else. Making things illegal only makes them more desirable. It’s such a shame that we have forgotten the violence that resulted from the illegal market in alcohol during Prohibition. Do we now have to go through a period where the mob sells bootleg chocolate and Coca-cola to re-learn the same lesson? What we need is a public information campaign and NOT more blaming the victim.

  • About Keto diet, he is not right by saying you can eat all kind of vegetables. You should not eat rice, potatoes, starchy foods, fruits too. They contain shugar, yes they contain also fiber, but still are too high in carbs.

  • Its Part Mental health and Gut health get these two things checked,I had PTSD,Anxiety and depression,I did not know until it got to a point where I was suicidal, then was the time I got really sick and met a physicatrist and life started to get better, before a GP would prescribe ant biotics thinking it’s a infected stomach. That killed my good bacteria then I was given my mental health meds and pro biotics which made me a new person, Today I own a business now have a family and own my own house and car.

  • I have to disagree at 41:40 fibers being a carbohydrates is NOT essential in the human diet!

    2015 US Dietary Guidelines Critique

    http://www.diagnosisdiet.com/2015-dietary-guidelines-critique/

The DGAC apparently wasn’t aware that the FDA published a report announcing:

“…evidence is strong that there is not a relationship between dietary fiber and colorectal cancer.”1)
You can’t blame the DGAC for not having seen this report yet; after all it was only issued FIFTEEN YEARS AGO.2)
The committee also doesn’t mention the excellent studies conducted in recent years demonstrating that fiber is not helpful for digestive problems, and can even worsen digestive problems. A 2007 review of fiber and overall digestive health concluded:

“A strong case cannot be made for a protective effect of dietary fiber against colorectal polyp or cancer. Neither has fiber been found to be useful in chronic constipation and irritable bowel syndrome. It is also not useful in the treatment of perianal conditions. The fiber deficit-diverticulosis theory should also be challenged.” 3)
A clinical study conducted in 2012 found:

“Idiopathic constipation and its associated symptoms can be effectively reduced by stopping or even lowering the intake of dietary fiber.”4)
    A 2013 review stated:

“Even when used judiciously, fiber can exacerbate abdominal distension, flatulence, constipation, and diarrhea.” 5)

  • I haven’t diagnosed with IBS yet due to covid. I have the symptomps of feeling of urgency when it occurs. More often my poop’s texture would be like diarrhea and the most worst part is the pain. Since I’m in 8th grade I have been experiencing it and it becames worst for it occurs more often in each passing years. I’m in tertiary college (2nd year) before i would experience it for like once in every 2-3 months but now I kinda like experience it twice or thrice a month. It’s really depressing as it can alter me. I’m always afraid to go outside because of the feeling of anytime I would be needing a restroom. Another thing is that, I’m scared that I might have something that is more serious health condition than IBS itself. Can someone please give me some tips? for the meantime since hospitals doesn’t accept this kind of conditions due to covid. Did someone overcome it?

  • I stopped keto about a month ago because of this. I want to start again, I’m a little nervous though.

  • He totally didn’t hear or understand your question at the end about the carnivore diet. And I had the same question, since the carnivore diet disproves his prior statement about fiber.

  • Idiotic hosts cant help themselves. Be serious, we are adults here. Some are dealing with these symptoms while we watch.

  • I‘m so grateful for all the studies & research that have been done on sugar and its effect on our body and mind. Since going keto and combining it with IF & extended water-fasts (4-5 days) I’ve managed to control my autoimmune disease! I’m 20 years old, never have been overweight but I’m doing this for my health and mindset. This is the lifestyle I want to commit to for the rest of my life.:-)

We’re on a good path! Much love & strength!

  • Only take 1 Prunelax and magnesium oxide youll thank me 2 to 3xs a week:).Having children messed with muscles. Just experiment with 1 prunelax and up if needed.1 does it. I started off taking two.Ill just say taking less is best. Lots of monsterous pooing if your body is sensitive with 2 tablets. Sometimes Ill cut the pill in half. 1 does the trick. No pain at all for me. Natural. 😉 It takes about 15 hours to work. I take 1 at 3 to 4 pm then around 7am I go after eating breakfast greatest feeling. I dont eat anything past 4pm.

  • I’m having this problem. Just finished 5 weeks. Maybe 3 BM in that time. Had to take a gentle softener for two of them. I faithfully drink 8 glasses of water in 16 oz glasses. That’s 2 gallons I think. I can’t imagine that I need mod. Anyone answer?

  • They should give obese people a Constant Glucose Monitor like the freestyle libre then let them watch what happens when the eat their normal diet. THEN tell them, every time your blood glucose spikes over 6.0 it does damage to the lining of all your blood vessels (the glycocalyx), and eventually some will fail, giving you numbness, nerve damage, kidney disease, eye disease and blindness, make you susceptible to every disease that comes along. Spiking your blood sugar is like giving all your blood vessels an acid wash.

  • Ur guest scared me.what happens when the plant based group gets so strong that they can restrict meat consumption? They are approaching it by the animal rights movement

  • ..around 36:00 he is explaining what is so great about keto.

..eat anything, only stay with keto and not feel hungry.

This means, I am not eating the next thing or more attempting to reach satiety.

I do not feel hunger now.

I can be 18:6 or OMAD and feel great: I feel great.

    I have energy.

    I enjoy food.

    I have satiety.

  • This was great, I’ve been looking for “ibs trigger foods” for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of Mackorny Defeat IBS Blueprint (do a search on google )? Ive heard some super things about it and my neighbour got amazing success with it

  • Just finished reading Hacking the American Mind and just started reading Fat Chance. Changes my diet, cut sugar and cut carbs. Stopped buying processed and low fat foods. Cook at home as much as possible. In the last 3 weeks l, I’ve lost almost 10 lbs, I feel so much better, happier, and I sleep better.

I lost my mom and both brothers to heart attacks, and my father of kidney disease and dementia. They were obese and had diabetes. I didn’t want to end up like them and I knew I had to make a change. I was the skinny one in the family, but never realized I could be TOFI (Thin on the Outside, Fat on the Inside)

Thank you Dr. Lustig for you books and your videos!

  • Pleeeeeeease spare us your egocentric continual displays of your “glorious” physique. It’s a real turn off

  • Keto is amazing, without trying to sand like a fan boy but it was the first time in my life i had control over my appetite, for me that was huge!

  • I hate to admit it but this presentation on Keto and constipation made a lot more sense than Dr Berg’s attempt at explaining it.

  • I admire, respect and mostly support Dr Lustigs views except I do not share his unbounded optimism in public policy. This problem WILL not be solved by public policy. Public policies and public education Are what caused this problem.

  • Awesome interview. This is proof That success leaves clues. For me to overcome the emotional pieces that are not working for me in my life is a rite of passage. When I feel hungry I say to myself. It is my body eating my fat. I love learning from other people that are striving to grow and be their best. I am so grateful that I have access to these lessons. I no longer spend time I invested. For me its return on investment return on time and return on relationship. For all of those people that keep preparing to do what is needed remember this. More important than knowing the know is doing the do. I am on day 7 With a keto Diet. And just finishing up a 42 hour fast. For those of you who are reading this please please no. We all can do this we all can become better. Happier. Healthier. ER stands for extraordinary results. My intention is for one person to read this and take the actions necessary to change their life. Thank you for the opportunity to share.

  • Parents, step up. Junk food ain’t going no where. Educate your kids, get them off the phones, the xbox, and throw them outside. Learn to cook. Teach your kids how to eat, and how to cook.

  • This man needs a Nobel prize for all the work he does in regard to his work..Dr Lustig words are so important and TRUE. I gave up sugar/processed food 4 years ago and lost 20 kilos and have never been more healthy in my whole life (am 50) How? Dr Lustig’s mantraeat real food….

  • Great man but it looks like he might be getting a little metabolic syndrome of his own looking at his waist size!

  • The Kansas Feed Lot Zinger is way off. Feed lots are finishing status:= short term Staging. All of the feed lot Cattle come off Grass Feeding and are, again-I repeat-finished and staged for processing. Some of the best grass land Cattle are: (wait for it) from/in Kansas. Too much rain in the eastern states Iowa Ohio etc. leaches the soils.

Great Video though. Too much Passion I guess. Dietary guide lines need to be changed, or better yet educate yourself and take responsibility for your/family’s Nutritional Health.

  • I don’t know how people get constipated eating this way? From the first day in April 2019 to now….nope, it’s like a flush. I do NOT go after fiber or eat anything high in fiber anyways. I usually get only 4 10 grams of fiber a day and am fine. I actually feel my best with little to no fiber, fiber makes me bloated, diarrhea, dehydrated, peeing a lot because of dehydration, drinking a lot because of peeing…up all night peeing. You get the hint. I am finding even avoiding kale makes me feel better all day and night. I’m believing the “fiber myth” is real, as in, it’s just a myth. Our ancestors did not scavenge all day to get 28 grams of fiber a day. Inuit do not get any fiber pretty much.

  • I really liked this video and Dr Lustig clearly knows his stuff.

However, a bit that he said that jumped out to me was: ‘I don’t care if you go to Greenland and do whale blubber I don’t care if you go to Africa and do the massai.

The point is that every diet that works on the planet is low sugar high fibre.’

From what I’ve been listening to that does not seem like a true statement and the two cultures that he spoke of don’t eat plants at all so there is no fibre.

To help myself I have been eating LCHF and I have cut out all plant foods and I feel amazing bowel movements are still there.

I am totally willing to accept that different people are more tolerant of different food types but there seems to be a great deal of evidence that many people do so much better when they cut out plant food.

    N=1 I do better.

  • I put a little Himalayan salt to my food. Isn’t that enough? I have high blood pressure so I try and keep it under 1500 MG a day.

  • Have Dr Fung and Dr Lustig teamed up on anything? I’d love to see these guys and their teams working together in a book or a lecture. Their works have saved my life.

  • They’re laughing but I just spent two hours crying because my stomach was burning non-stop. Glad its a joke to yall. But other than that, thank you for the information.

  • Oh look another disease that affects so many people yet hardly anybody I know suffers from it. Weird that.

  • I would say sugar is an assault on the person: when I see someone eating sweets, I want it too, and that’s bad. Moreover, studies suggest there is anticipatory insulin response to seeing or smelling food and that’s also bad.

  • I jave had ibs for about 7 months now and i can assure you i jave never felt a more intense pain. And bc of all the pain and forced diarreha i have now develept hemroids….21 btw livinin it up!

  • What’s hilarious is the cause of IBS is unknown and the fact that she said he’s an expert in IBS is a crock. Giving a diagnosis of IBS just means “I’m a lazy doctor, and I don’t want to go the full distance to find the cause of your intestinal distress, so here’s your IBS diagnosis”. I’ve seen it first hand with dozens of doctors. It’s pure laziness.

  • He is Great, but I’ve to Attack Him a bit: Addiction has Great Importance and Non, depends, Everything has pro and con [e.g. Water can bring Life or death and both can be positive and negative: War]
LIFE aka Survival IS an ADDICTION, MORTALS! LOVE IS THE WORST ADDICTION OF ALL AND YOU NEED THAT!
Addiction Can Help or Doom, same as Water, Fire and Everything around…BAD Things can Help You: WAR! or BAD Things can Doom You: WAR, etc…
I’M PROUD TO BE ADDICTED TO POWER, IMMORTALITY, SUPER GODLY POWER In MY REAL FORM!
In My Mortal Form aka Pathetic and Fragile, I’m Proud to be Addicted to Computer All day/night, mostly Competing and working hard to progress in Rankings for Games, Make Videos, Programming, I’m Ultra Proud too of Workouts: Martial Arts, Cardio, Weights, Military Training, Heavy Weight Muscular, etc..

  • Ibs meditation by Michael Sealy. Hoping the last name is spelled correct. I have had IBS C for a year. Feel like U need to use it and can’t go. Have discomfort in the colon if needing to go. Bloating and gass. Since eating rasin bran cereal everyday I use the restroom more often. This helped me more than meditation. Listen to meditation thid help calms things.
